When it comes to romance, Arizonans are clearly going all out for Valentine's Day. According to new data from Instacart, the Grand Canyon State ranked as the 16th most romantic state in the country, ordering a whopping 8.78% more Valentine's-related items than the national average.

What this really means is that Arizonans are leaning into the holiday with gusto, whether that's sending extra flower bouquets, stocking up on chocolates, or even indulging in a few romantic "essentials." The data shows that orders for items like vibrators, massagers, and personal lubricants spiked by 74%, 62%, and 50% respectively on February 14th, underscoring the holiday's uniquely intimate spirit.

Timeless Traditions Reign Supreme

But it's not all spice and everything nice - the classic Valentine's gifts still reign supreme. On the big day itself, orders for fresh cut roses surged by a staggering 1,933% over their yearly average, while combination flower bouquets and stuffed animals saw jumps of 1,459% and 1,867% respectively.

The bigger picture here is that Valentine's Day remains one of the most important gifting moments of the year, ranking as Instacart's second biggest day for purchases after Mother's Day. As The New York Times reported, this is driven by those last-minute, impulsive gestures - like sending a loved one flowers at work or whipping up a homemade candlelit dinner.

Arizona Couples Go All Out

So where do Arizonans fall on the romance spectrum? The data shows the state ordered 8.78% more Valentine's-related items than the national average, putting it firmly in the top half of the country's most romantic states.

The most romantic state overall was Mississippi, where orders were 57% above average. Close behind were Alabama (+43%), Montana (+43%), Hawaii (+36%), and Idaho (+34%) - a diverse mix of Southern charm and mountain west getaways.

At the other end of the spectrum, California (-8.05%), New York (-7.67%), and Massachusetts (-6.43%) were among the least romantic states this Valentine's Day. But with Arizonans clearly going all out, it's safe to say the Grand Canyon State has romance on lock.
